My Thoughts

Man… this book will really make you question whether or not technological innovation is beneficial to civilization. It reads like a collection of essays on humanities topics with a focus on the future and how technology could be incorporated into your everyday life (more so than it already is). And what’s crazy to me is that a lot of the topics almost felt outdated, despite the book being released in 2016. I think that puts into perspective just how fast innovation is happening. There is a part of me that is scared of that future world. Where computers and AI will make all decisions, analyze every piece of data, and genuine human interaction will cease to exist. Why talk to a real person when a computer knows you better and can better understand how you feel? Why sit and watch a presidential debate when AI can just tell you who to vote for? Why travel to a foreign country when you can just pull it up on your virtual reality glasses? The future Internet-of-All-Things could be a complex and controversial thing and this book does a great job of presenting both sides of that world.
