The Science & Art of Longevity
by Peter Attia (2023)

My Thoughts
High 4. This book got better as it went on. The main principles of book discuss the four horsemen diseases (coronary artery disease, AlzheimerΓÇÖs, diabetes, and cancer) and treating patients through ΓÇÿMedicine 3.0ΓÇÖ which are easy to understand and paint the picture for the chapters that follow. The first few chapters include some super in-depth medical conclusions that were hard to grasp at times (I still donΓÇÖt understand apoB). Things like insulin resistance and artery plaque build up are something that even I worry about at my age and the author certainly doesnΓÇÖt quell any fear that you may have on them. He just presents the evidence as it is, and much of it is eye-opening. The chapters on exercise, nutrition, and mental health are fantastic, especially the ending chapter on emotion health. Instead of presenting research and facts, he delivers it through his own personal struggles and it brings back the ΓÇÿhumannessΓÇÖ of longevity. I think my biggest takeaway is that weΓÇÖre mere mortals and canΓÇÖt live forever no matter what we do. Our time on the Earth is limited but we can improve the quality of our time. No one wants to spend the last decade of their life on their death bed.
